This policy explains how Terraria Wiki handles information when you read or interact with this website. Reading our guides does not require an account.

Controller and contact

The controller is the operator of Terraria Wiki. This is an independent fan website; the game's developer does not operate it.

For privacy requests, contact hello@wikirealm.com. We may request only the information needed to verify and answer your request. Do not send passwords or unnecessary identity documents.

Processing, purposes and lawful bases

Hosting and CDN (Cloudflare): network metadata, including IP address, browser information and requested resources, is processed to deliver pages, prevent abuse and keep the service secure. These operations are necessary for site delivery and security. Contact the operator for the applicable lawful basis and any legitimate-interest assessment for these operations. Essential security operations are separate from optional analytics; “necessary” describes their function and is not a blanket legal exemption.
Giscus / GitHub comments, where enabled: only Load comments initiates the third-party connection. Your action requests the optional embed and permits transmission of network/device information to Giscus and GitHub. Signing in and posting are handled by GitHub; posted comments and account details follow its terms. Do not include sensitive information in public comments.
YouTube, on pages with videos: thumbnail images are self-hosted, so loading a page contacts no third party. Clicking Play then loads the optional player from youtube-nocookie.com; it can process device and playback data under Google's terms. Privacy-enhanced embedding does not mean no personal data is processed; playback is requested by your interaction.

Consent, objections and withdrawal

Where Cookie settings appears in the footer, open it and select Reject all to withdraw analytics/ad permission and opt out of first-party measurement. Opening settings alone keeps your existing choice. Rejection is saved locally, subsequent first-party events stop immediately, Google receives a denied update if loaded, and the document reloads to remove loaded analytics/ad code. No Google tag loads in the resulting rejected document. You may accept again at any time. Withdrawal does not undo processing that occurred before it.

Consent choices are stored in your browser until you change them or clear site storage. We do not persist geographic permission: geo-aware mode checks location afresh for each undecided document using Cloudflare's same-origin trace endpoint, without saving its IP metadata. If browser storage cannot save choices across pages and tabs, optional analytics and ads wait for explicit acceptance on each new page, including first-party interaction measurement configured for legitimate interests. The banner may reappear because your choice could not be saved, but measurement does not restart automatically while that storage remains unavailable. Comments and video embeds are requested separately by clicking their controls; leave or reload the page to close an already loaded embed. Closing an embed does not delete a posted comment or data already received by its provider.

Retention

First-party interaction data, where enabled, is retained for up to three months. Other provider data is subject to that provider's applicable retention terms and our account settings; we do not claim a single fixed retention period for all providers. Contact us for the settings relevant to your request. Public comments remain subject to GitHub's deletion and retention controls.

Recipients and international transfers

Cloudflare supplies hosting and, where enabled, analytics infrastructure. Google supplies analytics, ads and video services; Giscus and GitHub supply comments where requested. Depending on the service and its terms, a provider may process data on our behalf or for its own purposes. These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Their applicable data-processing terms describe safeguards such as standard contractual clauses and applicable adequacy frameworks; availability depends on the provider, service and transfer. You can request information about the safeguards applicable to your data.

Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability where applicable, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent at any time and complain to your local data protection supervisory authority. Contact us using the channel above. Our identifier-free analytics dataset cannot reliably be linked back to a particular visitor; we will explain any limits rather than collect new identifiers solely to identify you.

Children and policy changes

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has supplied information requiring removal. Changes to this policy are published here with the date shown above.
